How to get MVP attention?

T

thuse

What is the proper way to appeal for MVP response? I started using the MS
forums for the One Care product and became accustomed to one-day turnaround
on response from MVPs if other posters couldn't answer my questions. I found
that forum to be a great aid, and a bright spot for MS's reputation. I've
had a question open for a day now that IMO deserves some attention from MS.
It appears to point to an error in Office, or at least an inconsistency,
something unexpected in software. The topic is "f1 for help", dated
8/21/2009. Thank you.

Well, MVPs aren't Microsoft employees. We are volunteers so there may be
time when we are dealing with our lives away from the newsgroups.

With no idea what your question is.......Did you post all of the applicable
information? Did you post it in the proper newxgroup? Did you check the
archives for the same problem? Funny thing is that it's rare that we see a
"new" issue. Most have been asked and answered before.

unfortunately, there are those who
believe that there is some expectation
of service on these NNTP's.

but the only expectations anyone
truly has in these groups is the right
to post a question,

that is if microsoft hasn't blocked
the I.P. address of the poster.

Otherwise, its like tossing a penny
over your shoulder into as italian
fountain.

You start of your earlier post with a preamble that was totally immaterial,
possibly many people ignored your post after reading the first line, I
certainly did.

When you finally got round to asking the question you failed to mention the
version of Office / Word or what o/s was being used.

Well, I'm thankful that got some MVP attention, and instructions on the
proper method of segregating suggestions and questions. I'll repeat the
question here, and the suggestion elsewhere.

When testing the help function on the latest version of MS Word on the
latest version of the Vista O/S it has been demonstrated that the F1 key
opens the Help display on one machine, but not another. The statement was
made that F1 is supposed to take you to help on all MS products.

1. Is it the design intent of MS that F1 takes you to help on all MS
products, all the time?
2. Is there a way to get F1 to call for help on the latest MS Word, by
customization or whatever?

Professionaly yours. Have a nice weekend.

I'm not an MVP
F1 brings up help in any MS component, as it does in allmost any none MS
application

Whats the version of Word and what version of Win?
Did it work before, or is this a new installation

To generalize, if you need immediate assistance, then please contact
Microsoft Product Support Services.

MVPs are volunteers who post in our "spare" time away from work, family,
personal and community activities. Expectations for the same turnaround
that you have received before will almost always be disappointing - no one
has the time to monitor these forums 24/7.

What is the proper way to appeal for MVP response?

By telling them they are a bunch of losers who have nothing better to
do in life. In fact majority of them used to work as hookers and
pimps until they became surplus to their clients requirements.
Without naming names, the two women are loitering here virtually
everyday which indicates that they have lost the sense of purpose in
life. Somebody should keep them occupied before they harm themselves.

Most likely explanation is that on the one where F1 doesn't open Help the F1
key has been "hijacked" by another application for some reason. What does
F1 do on the computer where it doesn't display Help?

I'd carefully compare the two machines to make sure that there isn't some
utility running on one that isn't running on the other.
