how to get old Main Identity data into a re-installed Entourage 2004

Because of a hard drive issue, I had to wipe my imac and start over in
10.4.2. Prior to doing this, I dragged my Main Identity onto an
external drive, all backed up and ready to go. But when I drag it back
over onto my new system, and replace the "empty" main identity in the
Microsoft User Data Folder, Entourage won't load. I have tried
rebuilding, etc. but I must be doing something wrong. What am I doing
wrong?

Hi - had the problem some time ago. If the old Main Identity folder is
gone, try duplicating the new one you just made -rename it - then
switch identity. Entourage seems to know the Main Identity folder and
you're just supposed to drag new files into the Main Identity folder
from a backup- good luck
