How to get out of an equation programatically?

When looping through all the inline shapes within a document, I sometimes
come across an equation. If I activate the equation (looks like it puts me
in the equation editor), I don't know how to get out of the equation editor
and back into the document (through code). I know how to skip over equations,
but how does one gracefully activate the equation and then deactivate the
equation to back to the document?
