how to make new symbol from a picture?

I need a "magnifying glass" symbol but this seems not to be a common symbol
in Word, so I was wondering if I can make a symbol out of a picture of a
magnifying glass. I am sure this is possible, but how? Who can help me out.
Is there an other way I can get a symbol of a magnifying glass?

You'll need to create your own font -- or find a font that has a magnifying
glass character

There's a magnifying glass in the font Webdings - chances are good that you
already have it.
