How to prevent the small brief icon to display on the
lower right corner of the screen when there is new unread
mail in outlook 2000?

well try this path. u enter tools ,options.
Under options( preferences) click on email options.
Then u will find advanced email options.
in the middle square when new mail arrive.
dont sign the third option:
show an evelope icon in the system tray

You need to turn off Display a New Mail Alert, you can also set how long and
how transparent it is on the Desktop Alert settings button.

There is no such thing! The only options there are: When
new items arrive: x play a sound and x briefly change the
mouse cursor!
