How to prevent website downloads?

Chris Kinata

Hi all...

I'm curious about methods for preventing the structured download of
all the pages in a website. I like to download pages for offline reference,
and occasionally encounter a "Page could not be saved" message.
Can't do ASP.NET, but thinking that there might be a solution involving
ASP.

The intention here is to enable browsing of prerelease web pages,
but prevent download-and-clone until the release date.

Regards,
Chris

Please post a link to one of the web sites and the page in question where
you get the "page could not be saved" error.

Hi Tom,

I never thought that it was possible to make it impossible
to download pages--basically wanted to make it as difficult
as possible under a limited set of circumstances.

Regarding your request on the no-save error, unfortunately
I can't come up with one right this moment...lemme think
for a bit. I've noticed that this tends to happen with
server-scripted sites...still thinking...will get back to you.

With server side script, you can't download a page or save it, because they
don't exist for a browser. ;-)
