How to remove dead menu entries in MSOffice ?

Gerd Pohlmann

Some weeks after the installation of MSOffice 2003 (under Win2000+SP4) I installed for a test period
a personal translation software from Linguatec. This translation software
creates a menu entry "PT" in MSWord (and other MSOffice products).

Unfortuantely the Liguatec Personal translator cannot be uninstalled properly.

During de-installation it tells me something like:

"C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.
Choose 'Close' to terminate the application"

No wonder that the support of Linguatec is as bad as their product.
So I could not get any help from them.

When I delete the Translation product manually the menu entries in MSWord remain.
When I open a doc MSWord tells me:

could not find ptapi.dll
or during exit:
Should PTWord.dot be saved?

I want to get rid of this crap. How can I completely remove all (Basic?) references from
MSWord/MSOffice to this Translation software?

That error message frequently means the AUTOEXEC.NT file got broken or
deleted, occasionally by malware. Copy it back from the dllcache folder
or the CD.
