How to search both Global and Personal address book at once

I used to be able to type in the To: field a person's name. If it was someone
at my company it pulled up their address (making the name and bold and
underlining it) from the global directory and if it was a family member and I
typed just a nickname, it pulled their address from the personal address
book. Then when I just got my new BlackBerry, my Outlook wouldn't recognize
names I added using the BlackBerry lookup function. To fix that I had to
change the order of my address books (under Tools, Services, Addressing)..But
now when I type a nickname it won't search my personal address book without
me taking more steps to actually choose the personal list.

Does anyone know a way to get me back where I used to be?

You didn't say what version of Outlook you're using or what the address list sort order currently is. It's pretty obvious, I think, that if you want it to search your personal contacts first, that list needs to be at the top of the search order.

Sue, thanks. I'm on Outlook 2000. I did that, but then I have problems with
my BlackBerry. When I add a contact to my address book via BlackBerry, then
when I email them later from Outlook, I get an "Operation Failed" message.
The only way to fix that is to put Global on the top of the search order.

Sounds like the problem is not with Outlook per se, but with the Blackberry software and the contacts it is syncing to Outlook. That's not a problem I can help with. You might be able to fix each contact by opening it in Outlook and making sure it has a valid and correct email address.
