How to sort list of projects in left pane of Project Center

The Project Center lists the projects in the left panel (in the same
location as the mailbox folders in the Email view).

Is there a way to sort or otherwise change the order in which the projects
are listed in this panel?

They are sorted alphabetically. Change the name of the project (or at least
the first character of the name) to change the order. You may have to quit
and relaunch to see the new ordering.
