How to specify which email account to use to send an email message (outlook 2k)?

A

Andrew

Hi,

I have setup multiple internet email accounts in my
outlook profile. Would anyone kind to tell me how to
specify which email address to use to use to send an
email? I was able to do so in outlook express and i'm very
much surpised that outlook 2000 seems so much complicated
to do such a simple task. =(

Thank you!

You need to post your mail support mode.
Only Internet Mail Only mode lets you select the sending account on a per
message basis.
Corp/Workgroup mode will follow the delivery order you specify in Tools >
Services.

I am set up in Corp/Workgroup mode. Is there any other way to specify a pecific email accout to use to send an email? If not what are the pros & cons of switching to Internet Mail Only mode?

No, that's one of the drawbacks of Corp/Workgroup mode.

Will I lose any data or settings by switching to IMO mode? Can I still use my cable connection? (I notice it talks about dialup.)

You won't lose any data.
You can use the same connection types as in C/W.
If all you need is simple Internet Transports and you can live with the
Windows Address Book interface, you should be fine. It is a simpler more
facile version than C/W.

Is there a difference in the way MS Outlook would appear or interact? I'm not very versed in this stuff. What is simple Internet Transports? I'm concerned if I make the change then Outlook might look and act different.

Yes, there's a difference. That article points them out. Internet transports
are those use for email over the Internet such as POP3/SMTP and HTTP as
opposed to the more cumbersome transports involved with Exchange Server and
Fax (which only Corp/Workgroup can support). Since Corp/Workgroup was not
optimized for Internet Transports, most people who only need Internet Mail
prefer the IMO interface--it is quicker and better suited for Internet Mail.

If you don't like it, you can always switch back.

You are using Word as the email editor - all of the instructions you are
getting use the default Outlook editor. Using Wordmail gives you different
default settings to use.

It would have been nice if you had told us what your message editor was.

||||||||||| Thank you!
