How to update the "modified" date on Entourage contacts andcalendar items?

I have software which synchronizes calendar and contact info from Entourage
(OS X 10.3 running Office v.X) to my PocketPC device (Samsung i700 running
WM2002). However, I don't want it to sync in both directions - I want it to
simply copy the data from the Mac always to the device, in one direction
only. My sync software doesn't have this option so I wonder: is there any
way to "touch" the contact and calendar info on the Mac to make them have
the current modified date, so that the sync software thinks they were most
recently updated and copies them? On Unix, there's this "touch" command
which makes any file seem as if it were just modified. Is there any way to
do this to Entourage data without having to modify and save each one by
hand? Thanks in advance.

No, there's no way of doing that. I don't know what you're using but perhaps
you should check out "Missing Sync for Pocket PC" from
<http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_pocketpc.php> . I don't have a
PocketPC but I'd be really surprised if this software didn't allow One-Way
syncing: the Missing Sync people (MarkSpace) make really top software. (Palm
has made them the official sync company for sync Macs to Palms.) It doesn't
sync directly to Entourage (yet), only to Address Book and iCal. But you
could use it in conjunction with my Sync Entourage-Address Book and Sync
Entourage-iCal scripts, from

MacScripter.net <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/>

They allow (in fact I recommend) One-Way synching: you set that preference
by running their PREFS Installer scripts (see the ReadMe). It takes a while
to do the First Run, but then is fast to use. You can try them out free for
14 days, but I'm not sure if Missing Sync for Pocket PC also offers a trial
period. It doesn't look like it.

Hi Paul - I'm using "Pocket Mac" which is a competitor product. I'm quite
happy with it, except that it won't do this one-way sync, unfortunately...

I actually talked to the Pocket Mac people yesterday because I was having a
nightmare time getting things synced correctly between Blackberry and
Entourage.

If you look in your Library/PowerMacBB folder, you should find and Advanced
options dialogue. Use it to setup a one-way push, restart PocketMac and give
it a whirl. Once I got the two synced to a "reasonable" starting point I
then turned that feature off and now use a normal sync for my contacts.
