By the sounds of it, Microsoft staff really do not care about providing
proper help. I'm just learning FrontPage 2003. I think you guys think your
help is really cool and yes, it does look cool. But it is next to useless.
Please listen to us. You need to provide a real help system NOW, not in some
future release as a "suggestion".
Your excuses about using *.chm files are invalid. You have created good help
tools for other products. The old fashioned HTML Help is the BEST available.
Make sure you add Contents, Index, Search, Favourites, and Locate. Prev and
Next buttons are also handy.
Next, get someone to write useful information. For example, I'm trying to
implement layers and to get them to show and hide when clicking or hovering.
(Of course, I don't know that this is possible yet, I'm hoping this is the
mnechanism to use.) Everytime I try to add an event, the ID gets wiped out.
You have no description or cross reference available that I can see, to
explain why this happens. I shouldn't have to spend two hours experimenting
or hunting to learn this. This must be a common bafflement beginners
encounter. I've programmed for years and I'm not stupid - I just don't see
any explanation yet and don't understand yet. It would be so much easier if
you could define components properly.
Its funny how your authors tend to describe things rather then define things.
Once components are defined, explain how they interact and why. We just need
bare bones info.
If anyone at Microsoft wants more of a perspective, please contact me.
Thanks.
