Make sure you enable HTML formatting in your signature by clicking on the
ab<->ab button on the left side of the formatting toolbar, then drag your
picture into the signature window. Note that the picture is treated as an
inline character, so you won't be able to make text wrap around it or to
place it inside an HTML table

Hi Peggy!

A lot of folks think this is a good idea at first but for the recipient
it's often a pain and in the long run it looks plain tacky.

Logos increase the sizes of the messages because you're adding an
attachment. If you're not careful you can easily increase the size of
your message 10-fold or more. Anyone on dial-up, mobile phone or other
slow connection, or with a limited E-mail quota will find them annoying.

Plus after corresponding with you a few times people may find it
annoying to see it over and over again, especially if you're including
your logo in replies and the message gets longer and longer.

I suggest sticking with basic E-mail netiquette as described here
<http://www.netmanners.com/signature_file_use.html>. It comes across in
the long run as much more professional looking and clean.

One piece of advice that I tell the folks I support at work is to snip
all signatures from mail messages as you reply to them. You'd be
surprised how much this makes the overall thread of a message more readable.

I'm in total agreement with Bill Smith's reply on using fancy graphics in
sigs. One of the new Spotlight preferences is to allow attachments to be
synced. I tried this and found that one friend that used this had put
hundreds of copies of his graphic in my Spotlight cache. While I would like
real attachments to be indexed by Spotlight, I had to turn it off to get rid
of the this type of unnecessary copy filling up my drive.

If you really want to do this, see this page:

Thanks it worked! Now, if I can impose for one more question...how do you
get the signature to automatically be placed when composing a new
e-mail....I had that feature in Outlook and it was great...oh, and I have
the opportunity to upgrade to Office 2008....any reasons not to?

Go to Tools>Accounts and double-click your account. Click on the Options tab
and specify your default signature. There's no reason not to upgrade to
Entourage 2008, in my opinion; in fact, I like the changes they have made to
it, but not everybody is pleased with the upgrade (though this is related to
changes in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, mostly).

Peggy,

If you use the Entourage calendar features and sync with a PDA or
smartphone, check out the threads on synchronization in this newsgroup.
There are many users who are much less happy with 2008's sync features
compared to 2004's.

Ed.
