html link in email opens Internet Connect

A very strange problem is happening in Entourage 2004 on OS X. When I
receive an email that contains HTML links and I click on it, Internet
Connect opens instead of my browser. I am already connected to a
network through ehternet I can't figure out why Entourage thinks it
isn't connected.
The only way I can get around this is to copy paste the link into a
browser.

Hmmm, this is a strange one. If you drag a URL to your desktop and do a Get
Info on the icon, it should show the application to open the file. I suggest
dragging a URL from a message that is giving you problems. I would have
thought it would be a browser, but mine shows the Finder as the application.
I'm guessing yours shows Internet Connect as the application. To correct
this, select the Finder from the list and "Change All".

Let me know if this works.

Hello Diane,
Thank you for your response. I did as you said and the links are
related to the finder. It doesn't matter what email I choose with a
link, the result is always Internet Connect opening. I have upgraded
Entourage to the latest version as well as OS X (10.4.6). I have fixed
the permissions with Disk Utility. We all use Entourage here in the
office and this is the only computer with this problem. I an beginning
to think I need to reinstall Entourage on this machine. By the way the
computer in question is a G4 laptop that travels alot and uses
different connections to get to the web such as high speed cable at
hotels and modem connections.

Check your settings in System Preferences. Make sure Ethernet is selected.
If your settings are correct, test Entourage in a new User. Since there are
no presets, Entourage should work as expected. If not, this indicates
something at the system level.
