HTML set for outgoing attachments, yet still going shows winmail.d

Outlook 2003 - any attachments I send either do not go through at all or come
out as winmail.dat files.

When I looked at tutorial, it said to avoid this set outgoing mail as HTML.
I have done this and yet still have same problem. No one can get attachments
from me.

Can anyone help me?

Check the following things...

1) Tools > Options > Mail Format > Internet Format. Under the Outlook Rich
Text settings area, make sure it is set to convert to HTM

2) If the name is coming from an entry in your contacts folder. Go to the
contact record in question and open it. Double click on the e-mail address.
Make sure it isn't set to convert to Outlook Rich Text

3) Try disabling Word 2003 as your e-mail editor

4) Do you have PDA software installed? Reason I ask is that some Palm sync
software will force everything Outlook Rich text regardless of the stuff
above
