htmlmarq.ocx was unable to register itself in System Registry. Setup incomplete!

Reinstalling MS WORD97 after a system crash and reinstall I get the above
message.
It recommends running setup again but the same thing occurs..
When I try to view html source in Word nothing happens. It worked before!!
How can I clean the System Registry.
I tried totally removing WORD and in fact the whole Office suite and
re-installing but the same message appears..
