Huge Identity?

I just upgraded to Office 2008, and it transfered my Entourage Identity from
2004, it was 32 Gig?! The mailbox on the Exchange Server is only 5 Gig- what
is the rest, and can I reduce that? Also, I think now the new and old
identities are on the machine, taking up 64 Gig? Can I remove the old one?
Thank you.

What size was your Entourage 2004 database?

Do you only have an Exchange account?

Did you move files from the Exchange account to folders "On My Computer"?

FWIW, 32 GB is the largest ever reported.

Let's wait on deleting until we are sure what's going on.

Is there some sort of prize for the largest identity? :)

Anyway, there is nothing in the "on my computer" folders.

One thing, I do remember that one time in the old version it had to check
the database for errors, and I had to choose what to check, and there were
some "backup" databases on the list. would they be counted in the Identity
size?

I would create a brand new Identity in Entourage and let it sync back up to
your Exchange account. If there is some way to move some of the older emails
on your server first, I would try to archive this. Later on you can bring it
over and store it in the folders "On My Computer". The large amount of your
data could take forever or just never complete with that much data.

Optimize Entourage to better work with Exchange (be sure to see the section
"Keep your Inbox as small as possible")

Nope, but they often can be used especially for POP account to salvage data.

Let me know how your new Identity works for you.
