Hyperlink opens multiple IE windows?

I am seeking a solution to my Outlook 2003 problem. When
clicking on a hyperlink in any email, I get "2" IE windows
containing the page reference in the link. Very annoying.
Running XP Pro 1st ed & IE 6.0

Can anyone offer a possible solution?
