hyperlink option not available in Powerpoint

I just installed Office 07 Professional. I selected all the options for
PowerPoint, but when I open a slide to add a hyperlink, the option is greyed
out. What do I need to do to make this option available?

Thank you! As it turns out, the object had 2 layers. After I read your
message, I kept playing around with the object and discovered it was layered.
I feel pretty stupid right now!
