Hyperlink within email

I've seen the suggestion on how to create hyperlinks in Entourage 2004
using "Make Hyperlinks X." Is there a way to create an internal
hyperlink, i.e., have a list of items at the top which link to
specific points within the email? I'm using OSX 10.3.4 and Office
2004.

Not in Entourage, but you might want to check out Send Complex HTML with
Inline Files 2004 by Rob Buckley. This is a new script that might be more of
what you want.

You're thinking of something like Word bookmarks. The best I can say is do
it in Word (You first Insert/Bookmarks.../ at selected locations in the
document, naming the bookmarks). Then you enter and select your Link words
at the top, selecting each one and Insert/Hyperlink.../Document/Bookmarks,
selecting the bookmark. Then clicking each hyperlink takes you straight to
each bookmark. (You could even do a Table of Contents.) When ready,
File/Send To/Recipient (As Attachment). Unfortunately the hyperlinks are
lost (although the words are blur and underlined) if you try to Send As
HTML. But everyone has Word - they can just double-click the attachment when
thy get the email. There's no way to do this in the body of an email.

Or anchors as they're referred to in HTML.

Yes, that's what I did too (except I manually typed in the link addresses,
but there's no difference in the outcome).
Unfortunately the hyperlinks are

HTML.

I did this same process last night, but didn't have time to send a response.
The links work for me if the "Display complex HTML" option is turned on.
Try the attached message.

Oh, but only if you open a message sent as attachment in its own window. It
doesn't work in the preview pane. And I didn't get it to work with a Word
doc "sent as HTML". I get a complex HTML message with underlined links,
sure, but clicking them merely puts a focus box around them. There's no
attachment message to open either. Perhaps I'm not understanding what
procedure you used, Mickey. I think you must have done something in Word
differently than what I did. Steps?

Mickey's right. You can send a bookmarked/hyperlinked doc from Word as HTML
and the hyperlinks will work in the email exactly the same way. When I tried
yesterday my text was too short - there wasn't even enough for a scrollbar.
So there was nowhere "to go". With a document of several pages, a long email
results and clicking the hyperlinks does take you to the anchor locations -
it's great. You don't see a cursor at the exact place because it's no longer
editable text on receipt, but the message does scroll to the right place.
Very neat. You could in fact make it a whole Table of Contents with links.
