I am getting formula displayed in some cells rather than the resul

For random individual cells within one worksheet. I can't find where you
tell at the individual cell level to display formula or result.

V. annoying.

Try this,

Sounds like they may be formatted as TEXT
Select the offending cell and format as general.
Tap F2
Tap enter

Those cells were formatted as text before you entered the formula.
Just reformatting is not enough; format as General or Number AND re-enter the formula (F2, ENTER)
