I can Send mail but I can not receive mail in Outlook 2000

For some reason I can now only Send mail from OL 2000. I can't Receive mail.
There is nothing about my system that is new in terms of hardware or
software. That is I've been using XP Home for months, I have the same
antivirus software (Norton), etc.

To try to resove the issue I have done the following:

Ran the Detect and Repair utility from Help
Ran the Repair utility from the CD
Control Panel, Add/Remove, Remove Outlook. Reinstall OL. (when I
reinstalled, my folder tree and all mail was there, so it seems that
Remvoving didn't remove everything)
Turn off Firewall
Turn off antivirus
Created new Personal Folder at the suggestion of a friend. However, the
original Personal Folder is still there, so I don't know if I need to move
all the folders from the original to the new one. Also, I don't know how to
delete the duplicate folder.

I can only read mail by going to my DSL ISP, Verizon, and read the mail on
the server. I can't download it to Outlook. OL is confgured to go to Verizon
every x minutes (10 or so), check for mail and download it automatically,
but, obviously, it's not doing that now.

I would appreciate any help to resolve this issue.

Thanks.

Your incoming server setting is probably wrong. Go to your ISP's web site or
call them and get the exact setting.

Thanks, Mary, for your prompt reply. I was interupted as I was finishing my
original post and forgot to add that I did check the settings. They were
correct but I called tech support at Verizon to confirm.
