I can't get rid of the Error 1305 and run my Office upgrade (XP) .

This error occured after I loaded my previous Office 97 software and then
deleted the Office 2003 trial version that this machine came with. No matter
what I do (tried several 'restores') I cannot get past this error to install
my Office XP upgrade. Someone please help me... I'm totally buffelled. -
