I can't launch Entourage--Office 2004

Help!! I reinstalled my program because my email was going directly
into the deleted items folder. When I launched Entourage, it asked me
to select an Identity. I selected an identity and entered my Product
Key code and then I got a message: "This identity cannnot be opened
with this version of Entourage". Well, of course it can be opened
because I was using it before i reinstalled the program. But worse, it
won't let me get to a place to change the option. Instead, everytime I
try and open Entourage, I get the message and my only option is to
quit.

I hope someone out there can help!!!

Help!! I reinstalled my program because my email was going directly
into the deleted items folder.

This is usually caused by a rule. The most likely culprit is the Mailing
List Manager (MLM). It's very easy to set up a MLM rule by accident, when
you are marking a message as 'not junk'. The wording of that dialog is
ambiguous to say the least. Check if there is an MLM entry (look for MLM
entries under the tools menu) with the deleted items folder as the target
folder. Mailing List Manager rules run before your other rules.

"This Identity Cannot Be Opened With This Version of Entourage"
This message usually means, for example, that Entourage is at 11.0, but the
saved database was saved in Entourage 11.3.3. Since there was a database
format change in there, Entourage 11.0 cannot open a database saved in
Entourage 11.3.3.

Just update Entourage with the latest combo updater 11.3.5. Note however,
that Entourage will only update to 11.3.3. Not all Office applications are
updated each time. The true test that you are updated is the Microsoft
Component Plugin. It gets updated each time. Get this handy script that
tells you what was updated.

I blogged about this 'feature' a little while ago:
