I can't send any messages with attachment any more??

Hi there

I can't send any messages with attachment any more??

Attachments upon arrival appear as gibberish letters.
Or if the attachment is a lager file it produces multiple emails ( up to
fifteen single messages)
Each email is screened by Norton antivirus 2003.
I have not detected virus on my pc.

any help would be much appreciated.
What is going on??
