I installed SP3, I have an activated product, but I can't find my install CDs

The service pack install can't complete. So, every time I try to open
an excel file, if Excel's not already open, I get a series of "please
wait while windows configures Microsoft Office XP Professional" dialog
boxes. Powerpoint, Photo Editor, Access and Word (all of which I use,
so I believe in suites) are less affected.
Wasn't activating the product supposed to obviate the need for my
install cds? I may not have them any more. I'm pretty sure I've seen
them since I moved.
Do I have to get new ones? Would that even work? Can I borrow cds from
another installation? Help!

You are supposed to keep the original MS CDs as they are always required
when you apply the patches. Alternatively, you could do without patches
in which case you don't need CDs!

MS wants everybody to keep their CDs so that you can remain loyal to them.

But, this is why I activated it! Doesn't that guarantee uniqueness,
and that I've paid full price? Don't they want me to install their
frequent security patches? Why make it hard?
Pah!
