I lost my email and addresses

I've used entourage since we switched to OS X. I now use 10.2.6.
Yesterday I started my email and entougage gave me a dialog box asking
me if I wanted entourage to be my default email. I said yes and next
thing I know it's giving me start-up boxes. I didn't complete it but
when I looked all I had was a welcome email from microsoft, no other
emails and no addresses. I've checked every file, including microsoft
users, and no luck. I even ran Disk Warrior and visited the Macexpo to
see if any of the volunteer consultants could help. So far, nothing. I
did have some strange stuff the day prior including a desktop folder
suddenly full of stuff from my HD. Is there a virus affecting OS X? Is
it an entourage problem? Is there any way to recover my lost email and
addresses. Thank you, in advance, for any help you can offer.

How full is your hard drive? I have seen this type of behavior when
available space was too low.

Select Switch Identity and see if your old identity is still listed. If it's
not there, then...

1. It's possible that Entourage is looking in the wrong location for your
MUD folder. You probably have more than one documents folder.

Entourage expects the folder to be in your Documents folder. For OS X
users, that's the Documents folder in your User's folder.

Open Entourage, create a new identity and name it something unique so you
can do a search on it and it will be the only thing that shows up.

Now do a search for this new identity. This will tell you where Entourage is
looking for Identities.

2. If a find does not locate your original Identity folder, it's possible
the OS has lost the path. If you have Disk Warrior use it. It would be a
good idea to run DiskFirstAid from the OS install CD.

Fix if you have more than one Microsoft User Data Folder...

Move the identity folder you want to use to the Office Identities folder
that Entourage is recognizing. Your identity is named "Main" by default. Be
sure to rename one so you do not overwrite.

Switch Identities to view your mail. If you have not used the new identity,
delete it. If you have used it and want to combine the new mail with your
original database, just drag each folder to the desktop. this creates an
MBOX file. Switch identities. Drag the MBOX files into the folder window of
Entourage.

Remember keep a backup of all data before deleting.

Open the folder on your Desktop, sort by Name, and see if you can find a
folder called "Microsoft User Data". You might need to use Find (File ->
Find) to locate it. If you find it, drag it to HD/Users/<Your
User>/Documents/, and then restart Entourage. If your data does not appear,
go to Entourage -> Switch Identity, and re-select your identity.

As to why this is happening, I do not really know. Perhaps it's because of
a full disk like Nick said. If that's not the case, it might be worth a
virus check just to be on the safe side. In addition, you might want to run
a repair utility like Norton Utilities. Also be sure to run Disk First Aid.
Instructions on how to run it in OS X are located on the Apple Knowledge
Base.
