I need to have a task in a subproject and the master project link

I have a Project with several sub projects and they are all tied together. I
would like to link tasks either inside the master project so they are
automatically updated or link tasks from the subproject to the master project
so they ae automatically updated.

JLDlll,
First a word of explanation about master files. When a dynamically
consolidated master, (this is the default type), is created via
Insert/Project, the actual individual subproject files are NOT
physically inserted into the master. The master file simply contains a
pointer to the individual subproject file. This explains why the
sequence of ID numbers starts over for each subproject. The subproject
files as a whole are linked to the master and changes made in either the
master or the subproject are reflected in the other.

In addition to having dynamic links to the files themselves,(master and
subprojects), individual tasks can be linked between subprojects or from
a subproject to the master, assuming the master itself actually contains
tasks. These task links are in the form of external predecessors and
successors and there are a variety of ways to set them up. I suggest you
check the Project help file for the specifics.

Hope this helps.

Hi JLDIII,

You can insert the subprojects into a master, select a task in one of
the subprojects, CTRL + click to select another task and click the Link
Tasks button.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
