I need to re-install Entourage X

I need to re-install Entourage X because it unexpectadly quits a lot
and does some other weird things when trying to connect to a mail
server. An associate at the Apple Store said that I might have to end
up doing this if nothing changed after an archive/install on my mac.
Nothing changed, so I need to re-install Entourage X. How do I
accomplish this without losing all of my e-mail messages, contacts,
calendar dates, etc...? I have a lot of important stuff in there and I
don't want to lose it, but I definitely need to re-install Entourage.
Thank you for any help you can offer.

To re-install Entourage v.X (and Office v.X in general, I suppose), you need
to run the uninstaller which you can find in the Value Pack of your Office
v.X installation disc. This will remove all the critical files (such as the
preferences) from your hard disk. There's no need to worry about your
personal data, as it is kept in the Microsoft User Data folder inside your
Documents folder, and this folder will NOT be removed by the uninstaller.
You can of course create a backup copy of this folder to be 100% sure, but
then again, that's a task you should perform regularly anyway.
That being said, I don't think that re-installing Office is going to solve
your problems; from the vague hints that you give us, I assume that there is
some form of database corruption going on. Try rebuilding your database
first before re-installing Office; this might solve the problems you're
currently experiencing. Here's a couple of links to the Entourage help site
which will give you more information:

Thank you so much for you help on my question. I just had one other
follow-up question. When it is time to get those contacts, calendar
info, email addresses, etc... back onto the new running Entourage, how
do I do that? Thanks!

There should be no need to get this data back into Entourage. During the
startup, Entourage will check if there already is an identity in the
Microsoft User Data folder and will automatically use that one. One last
comment, though: if your problems are, as I suspect, related to database
corruption, they will show up again even in your newly installed version of
Entourage, as it's still using the same database. I'm not sure if you've
already done so, but in case you haven't, try the rebuild first.
