I want to add my contact list to a personal address book folder

Why? PAB's have not been in use for nearly a decade, are no longer
supported, and cannot even be used in the current version of Outlook.
What do you mean by a "contact list?" Outlook does not use that term, so we
have no idea what you might mean by it.

Contacts Folder, sorry. Suppose my computer was to crash how do I insure
that I have my contacts information backed up?

Same as always. You back up your Outlook Data File. The file you need is
your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the mail, calendar,
contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup or transfer:
http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm
http://www.howto-outlook.com/Howto/backupandrestore.htm
