iCal sync causing duplicated events in bothEntourage 08 as well as iCal

Weird. My client's events keep getting duplicated again and again in both his Entourage 08 Calendar (it's on an Exchange Server) and in iCal (10.4.11)
I completely deleted all the events in both the Exchange server version and in his Entourage as well as deleting the Entourage Calendar in iCal. I reset sync services in iSync as well and in Entourage and then repopulated his iCal by syncing from his iPhone. Initially all looked great. Only one of each event in iCal and then one of each event in Entourage but as we sat and watched, the events started duplicating themselves before our very eyes. Spooky!
Has anyone else seen this? I didn't setup the Exchange server. my client has the only Mac in an all PC business (but it's his business!) I was working with thier in house tech who did set up the Exchange server and he is stumped as well.

I'm surprised not to see mention of this problem here. It seems to be a growing problem as more users move to Office 08.
Here are some comments in MacinTouch: <http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/office2008/index.html#d26feb2008>.

Not mentioned here? It's been asked and answered hundreds of times. If you
are getting paid to help people, then you should already know this.

I believe this question is responsible for about 80% of the traffic in
this group (if not more),
