Icon animation even when no new mail rec'd

the Entourage icon becomes animated (without the envelope) even though I
have Office notifications turned off and animation turned off within the
Entourage preferences. It is very annoying. Can someone pleae help?

It is probably bouncing because an error has occurred. This is the case if
you see a ! in the bottom-right corner of the main window or if you can open
the Error Log from the Window menu.

There is no way to keep the icon from bouncing if an error occurs. You
could try using Dock Detox, but that terminates all Dock bouncing.

Also remember that if you received mail but your rules moved it to the trash
and/or marked it as read, it will still be bouncing but there won't be any
"new" mail to read so-to-speak.
