Identity Database in Entourage X twice as big as in Entourage 2004

Hi, I just upgraded to 2004 and imported my Office X database. I removed
Office X and was about to delete my Office X Main Identity when I noticed
that the Office X Main Identity database is 328 MB, while my Office 2004
database, which should be a copy of the first one plus today's emails, is
only 189 MB.

Glancing at my emails, etc., there appears to be nothing missing in
Entourage 2004 -- I just want to make sure that there is some explanation
for this (e.g., better compression) before I delete the old database.

Thanks,

Wes Brown

Importing the database will have excluded all the wasted space in the old
one caused by you deleting stuff.

When you delete an item, the space is not recovered until you rebuild.
However, the 'holes' left behind will be filled with 'new stuff' before
entourage expands the size of the database further.

Is it still necessary then to run the "delete completely" script when
getting rid of messages?

Thanks in advance.

Sent using the Microsoft Entourage 2004 for Mac Test Drive.

Is that the script that allows messages to bypass the Deleted Items folder
and be deleted completely in one step? If so, the answer is yes, it is
still necessary in Entourage 2004.
