IE6 won't allow imbedded passwords

Hi all

I have updated to IE6 and it won't allow imbedded passwords to get into a web using the URL

I use a CD to get into a web that is password protected like this
http(s)://username:password@server/resource.ex

and now IE will not allow that
ref: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];83448

How can I ONLY get into that web FROM the CD with passwords being hidden/transprent

Is there a workaround

Thanks in advance. BTW - it works in other browsers...but I think for only a matter of time.

The latest security update for IE eliminated the ability to do that for security purposes.

Thanks, I know that - my questions are still:

1-Is there a workaround for this?
2-I am burning a CD to access a web that is protected. Is there another way to get into a protected web from teh CD that is transparent to the user? I am now limited to giving the passwords so that they can be inserted - this adds a step and makes the CD not needed. I want to use the CD as a "KEY" so that I can sell access to the website but you'll need the CD to get in.

Hope I am stating this clearly.

The workaround would be to make people sign up online for a password.
