IF Functionality

Hi,

I am trying to make several checks on cell values, I cannot seem to get the
syntax correct for checking if the value of a certain cell is within a range.

e.g IF A1>=18 AND A1<=20 THEN B4=C4+E4

I know that the syntax above is more used in a database, but is there a way
to translate this into excel to allow me to see if a value is wthin a range
and make a calculation or comment based on the result.
