Hello,

I'm setting up Entourage 2004 to work with exchange, I get it to the
username password and I keep getting the error

Mail could not be received at this time

The server for account "EXCHANGE" returned the error "Logon failure:
unknown username or bad password"

It keeps going in the same loop, I have used the domain\user method
plus user@domainname and neither work... .It's driving me crazy, I've
even tried enabling clear text authentication on the IIS site, with no
luck...

Any help would be tremendously appreciated

What about enabling SSL for this account ?? Do you access webmail
through https ??

You are sure your network doesn't use a login that is different than the
actual left side of the e-mail address (mine does) ?

I enabled SSL already... I tried every combination of logons I could
thing of. I have no idea what the problem is, I can access webmail
through https it works perfectly..

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Hi Dan,
I am not sure what OS and Office versions you are using - that would
localise the problem somewhat, but here is what I have found using Entourage
Office X with Exchange 2003.

Make sure you have enabled IMAP for the login. Entourage (Office X version)
I found, uses this accessing the mailbox & authentication (unlike Outlook
using MAPI). In Exchange 2003 (which is what I use), IMAP is disabled by
default.

As far as I know Entourage is not "exchange-aware" as yet (which I found
very annoying), but until they update that, I suppose you are stuck with it.
Make sure you visit the MS Entourage office website and patch your office
version as well.

Let me know how it goes.

cheers,
Ronnie

As far as I know Entourage is not "exchange-aware"

That's not true. Entourage 10.1.4 was released last summer and included
Exchange account connectivity. Entourage 2004 which was released back in May
improves on this. I use Entourage 2004 every day to connect to my company's
Exchange server and it works great. I especially like how I can enter the
OWA URL as my server and it just works no matter where I connect from: work,
home or on the road.
