I have an XP system with PowerPoint SR-1 (4527) and get this message when
attempting to insert an .mpg file. The system does not have Quicktime
installed (so why is it looking for it). The clip was shot on a Hitachi
Digital Videocamera MV580E and downloaded using their own software.

Sounds as if the video camera is using quicktime compression when it creates
the video. I would check the software that comes with the camera to see if
you have any other save or export options. You need something that's more
compatible with PPT.
