Images from Entourage X to Entourage 2004

Dear Entourage Gurus,

I just switched to Entourage 2004 from Entourage X and I am having some
problems with the privacy settings. I am unable to disable the privacy
features that ask me if "Are you sure you want to open the attached file...?
Some files can contain viruses..." you get the idea. On Entourage X, I never
had these problems and was able to open files I knew were safe without this
stupid message popping up. Is there a way to fix it?

Also, I do not want to add every single person who ever sends me e-mail to my
address book, but it won't let me view pictures in the e-mails. It says "To
protest your privacy, some pictures in this message were not downloaded."
This seems like a load of crock. I can determine what I want blocked and
what I want to receive. I hope there is a way to fix this as well. If not,
I might have to go back to my Entourage X.

Thank you so much for your time!

Hi Joe,

This warning can be turned off in Entourage's preferences. Under General
Preferences, there's an entry called Security; if you click on that, you'll
be given several options, such as "Warn before opening an attachment" etc.
Simply uncheck those you don't need.
Also, I do not want to add every single person who ever sends me e-mail to my
address book, but it won't let me view pictures in the e-mails. It says "To
protest your privacy, some pictures in this message were not downloaded."

The download pictures setting cannot be switched off; it's meant to protect
your privacy, as some HTML spam e-mails, when loaded, will reveal to the
sender that your account is active, which means you'll get much more spam
mail than before. There is a setting in Entourage's preferences (again,
under Security) to automatically download entire e-mails from your address
book contacts, which I assume you have found already. You could also set up
domains which you know to be safe in the Safe Domains list of your Junk
E-mail Protection (Tools>Junk E-mail Protection, Safe Domains tab). Note
that this feature only works if you actually use Entourage's built in junk
filter; if it is disabled, Safe Domains will not do anything at all. If you
don't want the privacy feature at all, you should add ".com", ".net" and
".org" (without the quotation marks) to the white list; in that case,
Entourage will automatically display all the messages from addresses ending
in these domains. I would not recommend this option unless you really,
really know what you're doing.
Thank you so much for your time!

You're welcome.
