IMAP Account Check Mail

I use IMAP accounts exclusively, and the schedule feature to check mail
every x minutes does not work. I have to manually choose to 'Refresh
Message List' each time I want to check for new mail. Is there a fix
for this issue?

It should do. I have two IMAP accounts - Send & Receive Schedule works fine
for both of them. I think there must be something wrong with your server.

On one of my accounts, this schedule is not even necessary, since the server
supports LiveSync. That means that the instant a message is received on the
server it's downloaded/synced to Entourage. (My other IMAP account, a .Mac
account, does not support this feature.) To see whether yours do, select the
icon representing the IMAP account (the account itself, not the Inbox) in
the Folders list, and right-click (control-click) on it. Select "Get Info"
at the bottom. If the dialog box that comes up contains "IDLE", then you're
in luck.

If so, then in Tools/Accounts/Mail/[that account]/Options, check "LiveSync".
(Uncheck "Inbox only".) Now messages should show up as soon as they hit the
server.

But chances are that if there's something wonky with your sever, this might
have problems too, I guess.

Are you sure that you have the Send & Receive All schedule enabled
(checked)? And that it includes every account you want to check in the
"Actions" section at the bottom? Click "Add" to add a new action for each
IMAP account, and set the first popup to "Receive Mail", set the second
popup ("from") to an IMAP account. If you have all that already, now click
the third popup "Click here for account options". That brings up a window
with Folder Synchronization settings (for IMAP accounts only). The INBOX
should be checked - perhaps yours got unchecked somehow. Check the INBOX
folder. Now it ought to work. (Double-check that the Occurrence section of
the schedule has an occurrence for Repeating schedule every x minutes. You
can also have another occurrence set At Startup)

I checked the IMAP account and it does NOT show 'IDLE'.

My Schedule was setup correctly, except the inbox was NOT checked.
However, even with it checked, it does not work. I must Refresh Message
List in order to view emails.

Any other ideas?

Perhaps I'll have my systems admn check the IMAP account on our server
to see if there are any tweaks that can be made, like Live Sync.
