IMAP and deleted messages

apologies if this has been answered, I can't find it...I use Entourage 2008 with my Gmail account, and I send my deleted messages to the Gmail/Trash folder. I am finding that when I send an e-mail to a group list that includes me, it shows up as a new message in my Inbox and my Sent folders. However when I delete the message from my Inbox, it automatically deletes the message from the Sent folder! which I don't want. (That doesn't happen when deleting from Gmail web mail.) Is there any way to prevent losing the message in Sent folder? Many thanks.

This sounds like a Gmail behavior and not an Entourage one. I'm not sure
what to suggest. Maybe one of the other users can offer a suggestion.
