IMAP Connection Problems

I use outlook on my laptop and whenever the laptop
hibernates I lose my connection to my IMAP account and
can't send/receive or purge deleted messages. Outlook
tells to me to use the Connect To <...> function under the
file menu, but when I do this nothing happens and I end up
having to restart outlook. I also lose my connection to
my hotmail account but the Connect To function actually
works.
