IMAP Mail accounts being viewed on 2 computers

I would like to find a way to synchronize a Sent Items folder that
looks the same on both computers. Because rules seem to deal only
with incoming mail messages, I don't see a way to query the Sent Mail
IMAP folders regularly and copy their items into a local machine Sent
Items folder.

Have others solved this already??

I would like to find a way to synchronize a Sent Items folder that

In the 'advanced' pane of the account settings there is an option to set the
folder for saving sent mail. Set this to the on-line sent mail folder.

Because rules seem to deal only
with incoming mail messages,

There is a separate tab in the rules dialog for outgoing rules (which fire
_after_ the message has been sent)

I don't see a way to query the Sent Mail
IMAP folders regularly and copy their items into a local machine Sent
Items folder.

With a combination of the two feature highlighted, this should not be a
problem.

Have others solved this already??
