It's bugged me that Entourage can't maintain the message history hyperlinks
(Show Reply, Show Forward, etc.) for IMAP messages if the IMAP server
doesn't support a feature called UIDPLUS. I've just discovered a
workaround, however, so I thought I'd share it:
1. In the Account setup for your IMAP account, go to the Advanced tab and
clear the checkbox for "Store sent messages in this IMAP folder."
2. Create an Outgoing message rule that looks like this:
If Account Is (your IMAP account)
Then Move message (your IMAP Sent Messages folder)
Your sent messages will end up in the IMAP sent folder, and the message
history hyperlinks for showing replies, forwards, etc. will be maintained!
To determine whether your IMAP server supports UIDPLUS, control-click the
root of the account folder structure in the mail folder pane and select Get
Info. If you don't see the word UIDPLUS somewhere in the dialog, it's not
supported on your server. Of course, if Entourage isn't maintaining the
Show Reply/Forward hyperlinks, you probably already have your answer.
