IMAP Problems (with .mac service)

with the .mac service specifically. I get duplicate e-mails, can't
delete them from Entourage either from the inbox, the sent box, etc. At
some point the one's that didn't appear to delete when I deleted them
do go away but this not a functional situation.

any help would be appreciated

The way to temporarily "fix" it is to repair the message list (ctrl-click on
the inbox, and choose it from the menu). It will still happen again, so it
might be worth it to learn the keyboard shortcut. Strangely, I don't have
this problem with my .mac, but I do have it with another IMAP server (I am
using three different ones, and only one has this problem, but I can't find
a way to permanently fix it).

I tried using AppleScript to automate the rebuild, but the only way I could
find to do it was using gui scripting which makes Entourage come to the
front (it's a little annoying when you're playing a game and Entourage takes
over).

The only thing I found that gives a hint about this is somewhere that said
that the duplication of messages is caused when there is a network hiccup,
so Entourage downloads the message again. I don't think this is what is
happening in these instances, however.

thanks that worked. as long as there's something I can do I don't care
if I have to do it manually. I was ready to switch back to Apple mail
it's a frustrating problem and now at least there's one way out.
