IMAP Subfolder Creation Error

I have two IMAP accounts: a .mac account and another one with verio. I can
successfully create subfolders for saved mail with the .mac account, but
when I try to do it with the verio account it announces:

This folder cannot contain subfolders. As specified by your server, this
folder may contain either messages or subfolders, but not both.

Anyone have any ideas how to set up my server to allow the creation of
subfolders? Ideally they would store both messages and subfolders.

This is allowed by the IMAP spec - servers aren't required to to
support both together, although many do. I don't know what IMAP
server software your Verio account is using, but it may not support
this. Try creating a new folder at the top level, and then create
folders or subfolders within it. If Entourage is only creating
mailboxes when you use "Create subfolder", try creating a second
folder at the top level and then move it in.
