IMAP syncronization problems

Frank Bruce

Good afternoon,

After Apple changed its .mac email service my Entourage is refusing to
Send/Receive email. I try first to re-enter login and passwords, check
parameters, remove the account and create it again, now when I try to update
the list the system reports: An error occurred on the IMAP server. / A
connection failure has occurred.
Following Apple's recommendations I changed the IMAP port to 587, still is
not working. I'm using Entourage X (10.1.6)
My OSX is 10.3.9 with all updates.

Any help is welcome.

Regards

Snipped this from .Mac:

Begin Snip

You can set up most email programs to use either Post Office Protocol3 (POP
or POP3 ) or Internet Mail Access Protocol (IMAP) to retrieve messages from
your Mac.com account.

In Mac OS X, Mail uses IMAP by default for Mac.com accounts.

So it does - sorry, I didn't realize that it supported IMAP.

Anyway, I have heard that some people have had issues and resolved them by
taking the @mac.com piece off of the account setup.
So, if you're [email protected], just use mac in the account.

Worth a shot.

Boettcher,

I might end doing that using POP, because it is not helping me download my
files and work with the structure I have there.

But, .mac by default is IMAP, and it use to work great :( I was wondering
if someone has a different port to try.

Don't forget to use the standard port and take out the @mac.com part...it
may fix it.
