This does not work in Tiger and Apple Mail Versjon 2.0.1. I have tried to
drag separate mailboxex to the desktop from Apple Mail, but it is not
possible to drop these .mbox folders into Entourage. Importing from Apples
Mail in Panther was easy through Entourages import option. Apple Mail
Version 2.0.1 does not store mail in a .mbox file anymore, instead it stores
separate emails as .emlx files inside a folder with the extension .mbox so
Apple seems to have changed the way Apple Mail stores messages and
Entourages importfilter for Apple Mail no longer works.
So here's the deal Stan.
1.Drag the mbox folder onto the desktop you want to move from Mail (sounds
like you're OK with this). There may be a delay while the Finder copies the
contents. Note that the original stays where it was- you're copying.
2.Open Entourage 2004, you can select to show folders (if they are hidden).
There should be some there (Inbox, Outbox, others) already.
3. While Entourage is open and the folders are shown drag the mbox file from
the desktop to the folders and drop it where you want the folders to go. The
folder must be labelled ending in .mbox or this will not work. If your
folder is not labelled this way, simply change on the Finder (earlier
versions of Mail did not do this correctly).
4. Please note that while this process is going on, there's no indication of
activity, Entourage will appear to all the world as unresponsive. It'll take
take way longer than the drag to the Finder, while Entourage parses all the
mbox files the way it likes.
I tried it and it works for me. If it's not working I can't tell you another
method other than export/import that will work (that seems a pain to me).
