Import from Ent 2001 to Ent vX on Mac with no OS 9

My wife has finally given up her original iMac (OS 9) and has moved over to
a new iBook. I¹ve moved her Office Identity from the old iMac to the iBook
but when I launch Office v.X, I¹m informed that it can¹t import the
Entourage 2001 data. According to the Microsoft site, I need to load Office
2001 on her system. However, the new Apple systems aren¹t shipping with the
Classic shell anymore and as a result, I can¹t load Office 2001.

Is there anyway around this so that I can successfully import her Entourage
info (addresses, emails, etc.) into Entourage v.X without having to track
down a copy of OS 9 and load it on her new Mac? I¹ve copied the Ent 2001
application over to the iBook along with the User Library. However, it¹s
still telling me that it can¹t find a necessary Entourage 2001 file. Or do I
have to muck up her system with an old OS and and old version of Office?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Aha! I figured it out. It turns out that .mbox files generated by Office
2001 are compatible with Office v.X. I simply saved her various e-mail
directories as .mbox and exported her contacts as text, then brought them
all into Office v.X. It¹s not as quick as a true import but this avoids the
whole OS9 issue, which makes life so much easier.

All that should be necessary is for the Office 2001 CD to be in the CD drive
the data should be installed in the MUD folder as it was before. The
import routine just checks for the presence of the office programmes and
will work fine if the CD is there no need to re-install the programmes.
