Import Outlook 2001 mail into Entourage?

Cate

I have some mail I synchronized and saved in Outlook 2001 when I left
my last job (where I was using OS 9.2), and I would like to open it on
my home computer (where I'm using OS X 10.3). I've tried opening it in
Outlook 2001 (in Classic mode), which I just downloaded to this
computer, but I guess since I don't have access to an Exchange server
anymore that won't work. I've also tried creating an Entourage
identity and importing to that, but there's no option to import from
Outlook 2001, and when I try via MBOX-format file it doesn't recogize
the files I saved.

Is there some way I can read my saved mail? Maybe by importing into
Outlook Express?

Thanks -

Hi,

I have a suggestion for this. You can do the following steps, since you say
that you have your mail in mbox format:

1. Open the apple mail and configure you mail server in that.
2. When is asks for importing from other client , say yes.
3. It will list out few mail clients, choose others and then next it will
give you an option to import from mbox format.
4. Import all you mails in the apple mail.
5. Now when you open Ent it will promt you for import, and in that you would
get an option for importing from the apple mail
6. Select apple mail and it then Ent will import all the mails from the
apple mail to you entourage.

Hope this works. Do let me know

If you no longer have access to an Exchange server, which would make things
simple, you'll have to ask a friend with a PC and Outlook Windows, to make a
new profile for you in Outlook. You can open your Outlook 2001 .pst directly
in any version of Windows Outlook.

Then follow the directions in my Export-Import Entourage X ReadMe, (Outlook
section) available here:

MacScripter.net <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/>

You don't need to buy the scripts if you're just transferring mail. By far
the best system would be if you have an IMAP account, to access it form
Outlook there and use the IMAP method in the ReadMe. If not, you'll have to
use the Eudora method there. The precise steps are given there. At the final
step, you do not need the script. After you have changed the extension to
..mbox and associated the folders with Entourage, not Mail.app, you can just
drag them into Entourage, or double-click. (Without using the Folders Import
script, you may get an awful lot of extra bogus blank messages, though.)

If you also have contacts, calendar , notes, etc you want to bring over,
then you should use the scripts. That part is very easy.

Hi Saadani,

The files aren't in mbox format. I'm going to try Adam's advice below.
Thanks though.
