Importing a .pst file

P

Paul Berkowitz

Copy the PST to a Mac running Outlook 2001.
Make a new PST on the Mac.
Copy the emails from the XP PST to the new Mac PST.
Use the Microsoft PST Import Tool.
You can get it here:
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/26148

Use the tool to import the new Mac PST to Entourage.

This is a very good solution if you are on an Exchange Server.

You can only go this route if you are on Exchange Server, because you need
Exchange to run Outlook 2001 (which is free, BTW) on your Mac. If you have
only a self-standing Outlook on your PC, and no Exchange, you won't be able
to go this route.

Also, if you happen to use a lot of the more obscure fields in Outlook, a
lot of them will be missing when you import the PST into Outlook 2001.
(Outlook 2001 has only some 28 contact fields vs. Outlook XP's 92 fields,
for example.) If this matters to you, or if you're not on Exchange, you can
get your data over to Entourage via my Export-Import Entourage scripts at

I saw this posting and have looked over your scripts and it appears to me
that your scripts require that I have access to a PC running outlook and or
..csv files. What if I only have a PC XP .pst file? Do your scripts
accommodate import of that data into Entourage 2004? If so directly or
indirectly (i.e. Is there a torturous path and process using numerous
scripts to get there?)? Thanks.

Everything is described in detail in the Read Me for "Export-Import
Entourage". Basically, you need to be able to open the PST file in Outlook
and then export in the format that Export-Import Entourage is looking for.
Then you can use the scripts to import into Entourage.
